AARODS - -- Anesthesia Assisted Rapid Opiate Detoxification
Anesthesia Assisted Rapid Opiate Detoxification is a safe and effective method of rapidly detoxifying the body of opiates without the significant opiate withdrawal symptoms that patients typically experience. In essence, this means that the patient is fully sedated while the detoxification process is administered by a board certified anesthesiologist and skilled nurses. The process takes from 4 to 6 hours, and has proven to be a valuable and medically-safe alternative for those who are addicted to opiate based drugs and who want to break free of their opiate addiction.Perhaps the most important benefit is that the patient does not experience the agonizing withdrawal of quitting opiates by traditional "cold
turkey," or suffer through the prolonged consequences of other treatments such as methadone maintenance. Another benefit that has emerged is
that rapid opiate detox greatly reduces the potential for an individual to return to using to cope with the physically and psychologically painful symptoms of the withdrawal processes associated with other treatment programs.
Additionally, The patient is able to immediately enter continuing care, and return to work, family, and to their normal activities, much sooner
than they would with traditional opiate detoxification methods.
After the patient's nervous system is detoxified of opiates, their condition is clinically managed with FDA approved medications administered by experienced AAROD anesthesiologists and a nursing staff trained specifically in the AAROD procedure.
